/ Zero-Waste & Pinapple Leather Shoulder Piece Collection ‘16

"Beyrouth" is a personal reflection on what it means to be Lebanese today, a result of a harsh history and a wide combination of different cultures, forming a unique rich, yet conflicting identity. The mix of past and present sense of frustration, feeling misplaced and misunderstood, under a constant foreign control; while grasping the value and beauty of your origins - Having pride in what it used be and still holds - a melancholic nostalgia of what could have been and being powerless to the country’s fragile future. The print and aesthetics are inspired by authentic vintage Beirut tiles designed under the French occupation combined with traditional Lebanese shapes under the Turkish occupation.
